AUSTIN, Texas and Westlake Village, Calif., Oct. 19, 2009 – From the Austin American-Statesman to The Australian, LibreDigital and IREX Technologies will give readers access to hundreds of leading periodicals when IREX’s DR800SG eReader hits Best Buy shelves.

The agreement with LibreDigital – the company leading publishers turn to for marketing, publishing and distributing digital content – will give IREX users access to one of the most comprehensive collection of newspapers and magazines available in the eReader market.

“For eReader users the device itself becomes secondary to the reading experience and the content they can access via that device. A key part of our strategy is to provide no-hassle access to a variety of content, and adding these industry leaders is a significant step in that direction,” said Kevin Hamilton, North American CEO, IREX Technologies. “With our 3G connectivity and easy-to-use device, readers are never far from their local newspaper or their favorite magazine – even if they are far from home.”

For nearly a decade LibreDigital has helped some of the world’s top news publishers, including USA Today, The New York Times and The Washington Post, deliver replicas of their content across an expanding array of digital channels. Content is provided in the open ePub format, which means it can be downloaded on the IREX DR800SG and transferred to a variety of devices, such as a PC or smartphone.

“Digital consumers want access to their favorite publications at the touch of a button,” said Russell P. Reeder, President and CEO of LibreDigital, Inc. “At LibreDigital, we’re working with world’s largest newspaper, magazine and book publishers, and now with IREX, to give consumers easy access to content and the high-quality wireless reading experience they crave.”

The IREX DR800SG – a sleek, 8.1-inch, touch-screen eReader – offers multi-mode 3G wireless capabilities from Qualcomm and Verizon Wireless, provides a reading experience akin to a traditional book, and frees up eReader content with an open approach to buying and transferring content. IREX supports multiple formats including industry standard ePub format and multiple DRM solutions, rather than a single, “closed” proprietary format that locks content to a specific device. In addition to content from LibreDigital, IREX users also have access to the Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE: BKS) eBookstore.

FRANKFURT – October 14, 2009 – At the Frankfurt Book Fair new data on how readers have sampled book content online over the past 18 months points to the changing nature of how book selection is conducted by consumers. That’s according to LibreDigital, which has powered more than 500 million page views of sample book chapters and content for some of the world’s top publishers, authors, retailers and social networking sites.

“We know that allowing readers to preview book chapters before buying has a positive impact on both print and eBook sales,” said Russell P. Reeder, President and CEO of LibreDigital, Inc. “In the case of one well-known book publisher, one in three people who browsed decided to purchase the book online. As a result, leading publishers are increasing their use of online previews when planning promotional campaigns for both new and existing book titles.”

Highlights of other general online book browsing trends include:

Women are spending nearly 70 percent more time browsing books online than men do

The most popular genre of books browsed online is romance novels, followed by books for tweens/teens and business books. The peak time for browsing romance titles is 11pm – 1am, in contrast to 4pm – 11pm for tween/teen books and 9am – 5pm for business books

An average reader spends more than 15 minutes browsing a book. They also preview an average of 46 pages of each book they browse

Adults are more likely to share links to content via email, while younger readers prefer to share within social networks like Facebook and MySpace

“Already powering billions of page views and online content sales across digital channels, LibreDigital is uniquely positioned to be the top content delivery platform for publishers,” said Martin Neath, Chairman of LibreDigital and General Partner of Adams Capital Management. “We look forward to working with the talented team at LibreDigital as they expand development of their technology to empower publishers to take advantage of a market where demand for eBooks and eEditions is projected to exceed $2 Billion by 2012.”

NEW YORK – February 9, 2009 – At the O’Reilly Tools of Change for Publishing Conference, LibreDigital, Inc., today announced that Plastic Logic has selected LibreDigital ePublishing technology to serve published content to the new Plastic Logic Reader. As part of the agreement, major publishers of newspapers, magazines and other media can deliver their content to the new eReader giving users an experience mirroring and extending traditional print editions.

“By teaming with LibreDigital, we are able to provide many of the world’s top newspapers and other content on our platform,” noted Daren Benzi, vice president of business development for Plastic Logic. “LibreDigital provides Plastic Logic with conversion and formatting technologies that are required in order to deliver a true-to-print experience on our device. In addition, our partnership provides Plastic Logic with the ability to use LibreDigital’s expertise and tools to format and deliver newspapers and other types of content to our platform and device. This makes it easy and efficient for publishers to create content for the Plastic Logic eReader that will deliver a fantastic customer reading experience and is also a key part of our overall mission to be an open platform that enables a broad array of content choices to consumers.”

For nearly a decade LibreDigital has helped some of the world’s top news publishers, including USA Today, The Washington Post and Hearst Newspapers, deliver true-to-print replicas of their content across an expanding array of digital channels, including eReaders, search engines, online stores and mobile devices. For newspaper and magazine purists, the new Plastic Logic Reader is extremely portable, durable and lightweight with a larger size format that feels nostalgically similar to reading a printed copy.

The Plastic Logic Reader, due for release in early 2010, is differentiated by a stunning form factor that is large (the size of 8.5 x 11-inch paper), thin, light and robust – about the size of a pad of paper. It is distinguished by a high-quality reading experience that is better than alternatives of paper or other electronic readers on the market today.

“Plastic Logic has developed an amazingly portable device that will accelerate the consumption of newspapers and magazines on eReaders,” noted Russell P. Reeder, President and CEO of LibreDigital. “Working together, we can ensure that consumers around the world get the news and information they need at their fingertips in a format that is most pleasing to the eye.”
