About LibreDigital

Digital Publishing Solutions for the 21st Century (Gutenberg would be proud…)

Based in Austin Texas, LibreDigital was founded in 2006 to market the Internet Digital Warehouse for Publishers, a hosted solution that serves top global book publishers as a low-risk yet leveragable digital strategy.  The company’s vision was to create a sophisticated platform for the large-scale digitization of printed or audio books and to use a warehouse concept to function as an internet-optimized repository for book publishers, both Trade and STM (Scientific/Medical/Technical).

LibreDigital develops technologies to enable book publishers to captivate readers across new print, online and mobile platforms, including the iPhone. The LibreDigital Warehouse for controlled Internet distribution and display of - book content, eBooks and Audio Books - is the platform-of-choice for forward-thinking publishers.

Using SaaS / ASP concepts*, LibreDigital’s Internet Digital Warehouse for Publishers went live in 2007 and the company landed its first global publisher, HarperCollins.  Since then, LibreDigital has become the digital partner of choice for many more publishers, including Hachette USA, Harlequin and Faber and Faber in the UK.

LibreDigital has offices in several locations in the U.S., UK, and Germany.  Our client list includes global publishers in Trade, STM, and Academic Publishing and University Presses.

LibreDigital is a division of NewsStand, a privately-held company headquartered in Austin, Texas, with offices in New York City, Germany and the United Kingdom.  Investors include Adams Capital Management, Noro-Moseley Partners, the New York Times Company and HarperCollins Publishers.

*SaaS (Software as a Service) and ASP (Application Service Provider) are acronyms that describe a software application delivery model where a software vendor develops a web-native software application and hosts and operates the application for use by its customers over the Internet. Customers do not pay for owning the software itself but rather for using it. The term SaaS has become the industry preferred term, generally replacing the earlier terms Application Service Provider (ASP) and On-Demand.
