Book “Mashups” and the future of digital publishing

Those are just a few of the options Publishers are looking at using LibreDigital’s eCompile technology called BookBuild – a component of the Internet Digital Warehouse for Publishers (LDW). BookBuild is an application that takes advantage of a publisher’s massive inventory of titles in the LDW – and the searchability of those titles thanks to the tagging process – to offer that content in the creation of custom books. 

• Here is an example of the BookBuild application in action:
• 1. You log into the BookBuild application;
  2. BookBuild then directs you to the digital warehouse (LDW);
  3. The LDW enables access to the selection of content to which you have been assigned Rights and Permissions to access;
  4. You then conduct a search across all available books and can search on topic, author, ISBN, etc.;
  5. The search returns a list of relevant books;
  6. Peruse books and text, in other words, experience the digital content while determining which pieces of content will go into the bookmashup;
  7. Mark books, chapters, pages or text to enter compilation ;
  8. Combine to one single new book;
  9. Add additional research material – your notes, class material, 3rd party research and papers;
  10. Auto-create or add other required front- and back-markers (TOC, copyright, index, etc.);
  11. Merge all text elements into new book;
  12. Decide what output formats you desire;
  13. Lodge the new ecompiled book or mashup into the LDW.
