DataPipe

Locked and Loaded

When LibreDigital first designed the Internet Digital Warehouse for Publishers, a cornerstone of its utility for Book Publishers was the issue of security. It is essential that digital assets for any publisher are not only properly secured but that any access and distribution be appropriately safeguarded. Think of the Digital Warehouse as a locked room with no windows or doors. DataPipe is the only way that authorized users are allowed to access warehoused content.

DataPipe provides a robust, highly customizable interface for accessing warehoused books and book components. In conjunction with the Rights & Permissions system, it allows publishers to grant access to authorized partners – e.g. web-based booksellers, libraries, etc.

Controlled Access is a Publisher’s Power Tool

Each partner can be granted access to any or all of a publisher’s books. DataPipe also provides complete access logging and reporting.

  • At the book level, authorized partners can be granted access to:
    • Catalogs (lists of books available to them)
    • Whole books, or just sample pages
    • Page-level tags
    • Onix data
    • High-resolution page images
    • Low-resolution page images
    • Dynamically-sized page images
    • Page thumbnails
    • Cover thumbnails
    • Original publisher files
    • Page text in HTML or raw ASCII format
    • Catalog search
    • Book search
    • Page search
    • Retrieve JPG page images with search terms highlighted
    • eBooks
    • Whole audio books, or sample excerpts
    • Related marketing collateral

DataPipe has a well-documented interface manual that makes it easy for publishers to configure their distribution methodologies.
